istanbul

We were in Istanbul this weekend, for both business & pleasure... I had a fun, me day on Saturday morning as MT was busy with the more serious stuff.

My day started at the Mavra Design Cafe in Galata... The food was standard but you would like the interior, each peace is stylishly selected and brought together...

I have then visited some of my favorite boutiques on Serdar-ı Ekrem, Building and Atelier 55 are my favorite amongst all. I have tried a beautiful gilet at the Atelier 55, it was one of the few pieces that was not on sale so I decided to wait. I was so excited when I saw the beautiful head pieces by Philip Treacy, they were amazing! Wouldn't they be perfect for a New Year's Eve Party;)

My next stop was the huge vintage/costume store By Retro, so I walked up to the Suriye Pasajı on famous İstiklal street. The store was huge, filled with probably thousands of pieces but I had difficulty to find something (I guess I need something like a Vintage Shopping Guide for Dummies :P )

Well an "Istanbul (window)shopping Experience" would not be complete without Nişantaşı and Kanyon, so I had quick stops at both before returning home to meet MT and get ready for the evening out (huh, well I admit I was a bit tired)

Last but not least, I have to mention about the Çiya experience we had on Sunday. The food was delicious and I have complemented the pleasure with a Kup Griye from Baylan which is just around the corner from Çiya (oh yeah, I have a sweet tooth). Baylan has opened its new location in Bebek, but I liked this old store with the vintage feel more.

And the view form the boat while returning to Eminönü... ♥ Istanbul...

mondayandmacarons:)

It is a beautiful Monday today... I usually do not feel like this on mondays but I felt different today, with no reason, maybe it was the little sunshine I have seen thru the curtain or that I had a goooood sleep. But it continued even better as my beautiful friend Yonca brought me a box of macarons from Bebek Laduree. How sweet is she and how sweet are these macarons:)

And she is not only beautiful but also so stylish, apparently we (her loyal fans in the office) are not the only ones admiring her sense of style ;) as she is photographed by sartorialistanbul in Nisantasi...

Check sartorialistanbul for more Istanbul street fashion photos.

Ankarasaturday

This Saturday we took advantage of the sunny sky (cold though!) and enjoyed ourselves on a day out at Tunalı (our favorite place in Ankara).

We had a morning coffee at DNR Gloria Jeans. On a warm day I really like sitting outside at the front yard and enjoy my coffee while people-watching. We did some window shopping and then headed to Karum Shopping Mall... Karum has a special place in our life.Although it has suffered from bad times, we are glad to see it sparkly and shinny ready for the new years shopping. There are lots of different boutiques for every taste especially for evening dresses.

We then meet one our friends for a drink. It was about 18:00 and we were soo hungry and decided to see Apinya Thai which is one of the latest additions to Ankara dining scene. Apinya is a Thai and Japanese restaurant which has a stylish all white interior with a twist of Asian elements. The food tastes great especially the Pad Thai. If you are in Ankara and have a crush on Asian food, you should give it a try.

We decided to have our desert outside while walking and visited Macarons D'Antoinette which is just around the corner. Isn't this a lovely place :)

So ended our day outside, but the night was a head of us as we had our friends coming to us for late night drink :)

twinkletwinklelittlestar

Columbine is one of my latest blog crushes (most of which are also from Sweden like her) I guess I have a huge crush on Scandinavian Design in general mostly in terms of interior and industrial design, but it has nothing to do with this post :P Ok lets focus on what really matters :) H&M Leathel pencil skirt with a deep slit. I am in love with this skirt, since I first saw it at carolinesmode and although I have visited several H&M stores in Belgium, Paris and Turkey I am not able to find this exact skirt. Can anyone help, please???

Then I saw Columbine wearing the same skirt with a simple gray sweater and a twinkling (not so) little star. How amazing she looks...

trench

I have an admiration to Birkin genes. How effortlessly cool and chic they are; Jane Birkin and her daughters. And Lou Doillon proved it again by wearing a trench from Burberry Resort 2012 collection like a dress with black tights at the Burberry Paris Boutique Opening. Simple and elegant.

The trench and black tight combo reminded me of this photo of mine... Although I like my trench I would prefer a waist defining slim cut one like Burberry's...

bag art

I am very much into these jewellery like clutches lately, to be precise minaudieres. Alexander McQueens are exquisite, art piece... Seriously it took some time for me to leave them when I first hold them in my hands in the store. The workmanship is great and it is quiet heavy (which I also liked). But yes they are waaaay out of my range...

I was hoping to find a vintage minaudiere in Paris. I had found beautiful beautiful vintage ones in Paris, made from different materials like wood, ivory, mother of pearl and yes again expensive :(

I think the best alternatives to the McQs are the House of Harlow 1960 clutches, I hope I can get one before New Year :)
